IntroductionI am a doctoral student in Education Policy and Planning at The University of Texas at Austin. I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with B.A. degrees in Spanish and Anthropology, and an MBA in Finance and Strategy from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas. My interests focus on education, bilingual education, cultural preservation, cultural anthropology, and social justice issues. I have always been interested in anthropology, linguistics, and native language preservation, I became involved with the Cherokee Narratives project out of a desire to contribute to the preservation of Cherokee, Cherokee culture, and efforts to advance Cherokee language instruction in classrooms. Currently I am pursuing a PhD in Educational Policy and Planning at the University of Texas at Austin. My research focuses on the outcomes of gentrification as it impacts on traditional resident, schools, and families in Austin. My research and writing interests include privatization, marketization, corporatization of public education, and gentrification. I am a native Texan, Tejano, and Texas German. Greg
