| Introduction | My name is Griff Clipson and I am a firm believer in the need for government, the need for its limitations, and the unbelievable need for people to be more aware of government at a local level. It’s like people in this state of ours are all too worried with who will become President of the United States, when they forget that the majority of the laws they follow on a daily basis were constructed at the state level. There are four levels of government in my eyes, the family, the community, the state, and the nation with their level of importance in that order. I hope to leave my Texas Government class with a new and improved knowledge of local government that will assist me to make big changes through many small elections. As a Libertarian, I like the fact that I am in a party that favors the individual. I feel that ultimately people have the ability to do the right thing, and that the majority will, but it should not be up to someone else to decide where, when, and how, I choose to do that right thing. What kind of character does an individual show when the only time they help another is when the government tells them to. This is what separates libertarians from other parties. |
