About me

Location Oxford, United Kingdom
Introduction I swapped a rented house, the ‘Great Wen’ of London and the predictable world of local government for a backpack, the open road and a vague notion of heading east. Accompanied by my wonderful girlfriend, Lara, we set off to explore this great planet of ours, choosing to see it in a different way by opting not to circumnavigate it without the use of an aeroplane. By junking the jumbo we hope to rediscover the joys of travelling as it used to be: nice and slow, enjoying the opportunities to watch the world change slowly around us, and appreciate the differences, large and small, between places. Eight months into the trip we have travelled some 36,000 miles, through 18 different countries. We’ve met some interesting characters and had same memorable experiences. All good things must come to an end however and I hope to make it back to the UK in April, just in time for St George’s Day, a long-awaited cuppa, the soothing tones of Radio 4 and the fond embrace of the good ol’ British weather.
