| Introduction | I received my MA in Literature and Writing from Hollins University in 1996. I went on to receive my MFA in Creative Writing/Poetry from University of Virginia in 1998 where I studied with Rita Dove and Charles Wright. In 1995, I earned my undergraduate degree in English from Barnard College in New York. My poems have appeared in River Styx, MARGIE: Journal of American Poetry, Poet Lore, Shenandoah, Prairie Schooner, and Anthology of Magazine Verse and Yearbook of American Poetry. My poetry manuscript, My Mother's Inventions, has been a finalist in the Elixir Press Fifth Annual Poetry Awards, the May Swenson Poetry Award, and the Poulin Poetry Prize. Currently, I am a distance education instructor for Johns Hopkins University's CTYOnline program. This year, I am a recipient of an NC Arts Council Grant. |
