Introduction My name is Tony France, son of a soldier and a farmer’s daughter. I was raised in Europe, schooled on the East Coast and educated in the Southwest. Having lived in over half a dozen states across the country I make my permanent home in Dallas/Ft. Worth. Thru mine and my father’s career I’ve set foot on every continent save Antarctica as both resident and tourist. With a degree in philosophy plus over 40 years of living I am trained to be compassionately yet obstinately objective. Not going someplace because it's a hassle or takes too long to get there? Please. Not going because it's the middle of a war zone? Well.....maybe. It is my hope that The Traveling Optimist will help others travel beyond the guide books, search for something other than the hottest nightspots and realize there is more to a city, country or culture than the sum of its most famous attractions. I don't claim to have gone everywhere and seen or done everything but as the title states I am optimistic that travel will always have a positive effect on my life. I look forward to a robust dialogue with any and all who agree, disagree, corroborate or correct my experience. Thanks. Gotta go!
