Introduction Michelle Fitzhugh-Craig began her journalism career in 1998 with The Arizona Republic.During her tenure, she has served as Editor-in-Chief for the AZ Examiner, Arizona’s Black Pages and shades Magazine, an online publication that celebrates and promotes all women of color, which she also created. Since moving to the Bay Area in 2005, Fitzhugh-Craig has worked at three local, daily newspapers, most recently, as city editor for the Oakland Tribune. She is currently an independent journalist for several local and national publications. Fitzhugh-Craig is a graduate of Arizona State University. Her published works include being co-author of Living in the Moment: A Guide to Living a Full and Spiritual Life and a contributor to Chicken Soup for the African American Woman’s Soul. Fitzhugh-Craig’s awards and recognitions include first place for investigative reporting for her work with the Chauncey Bailey Project; an Associated Press Managing Editors Award for column writing; and participation in the Maynard Institute Media Academy at Harvard University and NABJ/New York Times Leadership Academy.
