| Introduction | I am a female (40s) with a history of Angio Lipomas. My diagnosis appears to be an autosomal dominant (paternal), genetic disorder classified at this time as Multiple Familial Lipomatosis/Dercum's Disease (Adiposa Dolorosa). My father had over 500 removed and has hundreds more! My brother, my two first cousins (male), and my father's brother (my uncle) have them. Mine are severely painful sitting on nerves. I currently have about 40-50 which are mostly on my upper and mid legs, groin, hips, back, a few on my bicep, elbow region, and back side of my knees. Mine are PAINFUL and debilitating and I am fed up not getting a proper medical diagnosis. I urge you to STAND UP FOR YOURSELF; BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE, and EDUCATE these doctors. Do not be discouraged by those in the medical community who are not enlightened YET about this disorder. Share your knowledge and be persistent with your facts. Knowledge is Power! As Ghandi once said, "First they ignore you; then they laugh at you; then they fight you; then you win!” I hope that my experiences, thoughts, and knowledge will help someone, somewhere!
