| Interests | A few years ago I returned to vermont in hopes of relocating that magic I felt here as a child. Little did I know how addicted I would become to the stubborn and sublime characteristics of oil paint and the ‘sha-shick’ of the shutter. I love capturing these little slices of life undistracted by the rest of the world.. Collage allows me to use some of those hundreds of photo’s as well as others images to manifest something I could never realize of my own accord.. I am drawn to the texture of forgotten paint, as well as bold colors with all there light hues and dark secrets. This is probably why I am most satisfied while wrestling with impressionism in oils. I have many inspirations and I am still going in all kinds of directions yet, it is remarkable to see a distinct and consistent palate as well as a surprising affinity toward abstraction. I know, I never imagined that would be my progression but the paint and I have come to an understanding, I paint to the best of my ability then I let go..... and there is that magic. Granted, it doesn’t always come together and sometimes the most I create is a swampy grey mess to roll my fingers through, but when it does work - it is the most unexplainable and gratifying feeling, like creating something that defies time and creates a seepage through it. Yeah that good.! So while the direction and process of making art is complete chaos and completely mine, it gives my soul a place to play and a home. However, it is the sharing of it that allows me to connect- a home for the heart. I am pleased to share it all with you - Welcome in! |
