| Introduction | At the moment I've just completed my final year of Jewellery and Metal design at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee. My work is based on my observations, photography and drawings of my surrounding environment. I like to look at contrasts between nature and the manmade and how this can be translated into metal. I like to etch small segments of my drawings into my pieces making them abstract and open to the interpretation of the viewer. A large part of design for me is a love of the materials and experimentation- I like to use combinations of techniques including settings, photo etching, piercing and raising. The work I have produced so far so far has been a combination of tableware and jewellery. However I have a strong interest in the relationship between jewellery and the wearer/viewer- how a piece can be construed, what it can symbolise for the wearer and how it expresses the self. |
