| Introduction | I fell in love with photography when my kids were still young and 35 mm was not yet retro. As a busy mom of five (now six!), there were so many unmarked, seemingly-insignificant moments I wanted to remember. Photographs helped me to capture the funny faces, the dancing, the laughs—even the mom-don’t-take-another-picture glares!—that made up our days. These pictures now cover the walls of our home and remind us of every little step along the way. Six years ago, I decided to take my camera outside of our home. I began taking amateur pictures, first of friends, then friends of friends. As in all arts, the more I learned, the more I realized I still had to learn. Four years of professional photography and hours of formal training have landed me where I am today. I’m grateful to all those who allow me to continue to experiment with style, especially my children who have mastered the mom-don’t-take-another-picture glare while maintaining a smile. Most of all, I’m grateful to my husband who so willingly makes way for my streaks of creativity. |
