About me

Gender Male
Occupation Gentle Cynic, Wounded Poet, Textual Exegete, Community Social Worker, Pastoral Counselor
Location Harrisonburg, Virginia, United States
Introduction Reared in Hamilton OH, served as altar boy, excelled as a Boy Scout, an aviation enthusiast, cyclist and golfer; joined U.S. AF (77) and stepped out in a lonely world. In '80 I re-encountered the story of Jesus which began a widespread human transformation and an emerging cognizance of the Way. I discerned a call to ministry and studied at Trinity College. Married in 87, taught MS English, began pastoral work in Richmond, VA, ordained in 92. In 93, I encountered ministry with a meta-church structure until 97, took a sabbatical and followed a path of enrichment while embracing classic spiritual disciplines thus broadening my theological horizons and human capacity while applying doubt to my advantage. Moved to Harrisonburg, VA in 98, consulted in two industries; entered seminary in 03 to work out some significant formational undertakings at Eastern Mennonite Seminary; earned an MDIV while exploring a missional purpose and responding in cognizance of the Way non-violently via various practices that seek to endure and overcome fragility, doubt, injustice, danger in a chaotic, fragmented and violent world filled with harsh realities and challenges.
Interests Textual exegesis/interpretation (ancient religious and philosophical), theological/ethical conversations, brief and pastoral counseling, client-centered social work, poetry reading/writing, blogging as public journaling, cycling, wood working, document creation (hand-made books and design)
