IntroductionA PARADOX: unorthodox intellectually, spiritually, and socially yet orthodox religiously by birth and choice; Mostly serious with shy dry wit often misinterpreted as lack of sense of humour; smart person who makes really stupid mistakes; Home-centered, mostly reclusive, neither adventurous nor exciting, yet have lived in a few countries, and have even been homeless; prefer to curl up with a book to the sweetness of Irish fiddle music, yet sang in rock band in highschool and later in coffeehouses; now write and sing my own songs, or listen to rock really loud, but in private. Mostly a loner and observer, liking my own company in a quiet place where I can read, think, and write to the wee hours, I do enjoy the company of good kind gentle people at almost anytime. An ancient ageless soul, I can relate to and enjoy mostly any age of a person, from babies to centenarians. A MAJOR nurturer, I wish I could take all of the unwanted babies of the world and sing to them and rock them to healthy happy lives, and feed the hungry of the world at long tables set up so there is no longer room for battle. You can find me on facebook as Solas Orr.

Favorite musicMostly Rock of various genres, especially 'classic' rock, oldies, metal , alternative, and grunge: Especially green day, nirvana, muse, pinkfloyd, led zepelin, jethro tull, metallica, moody blues, CSNY, rolling stones, kinks, U2, REM, blacklab, etc--At night, when reading or quilting or embroidering, and my body doesn't need the rage of blasting rock, I listen to Irish fiddle music, Leonard Cohen, Nightnoise, Bobby Long, Jakob Dylan
Favorite booksThe Little Engine that Could, All Little Bear books, All Harry Potter books, The Secret Garden, Daniel Deronda, Middlemarch, The Woodlanders, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, Hunger (although at least semi-autibiograhical so perhaps in nonfiction category?), Song of Solomon (The one by Toni Morrison, although Solomon's Song of Songs is brilliant, especially in the original!), Leatherstocking Tales, Fountainhead, Farewell to Arms, Atlas Shrugged, Kavalier and Clay, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, many many more in fiction. Nonfiction--The 5 that stand out are: Buber's 'I and Thou' C.R. Jonathan Sacks' 'To Heal a Fractured World' 'The Home we Build Together,' Elie Weisel's 'Souls on Fire' and Leonard Cohen's 'Book of Mercy' as well as his poetry. Scary love/hate love to hate book: Henry Miller's Moloch. In truth, I read so much, especially history, religion, politics, and psychology, way beyond what I could list.
