Introduction Douglas B. Rogers, Ed.D. (Reading Education, SUNYAB), first studied and practiced the teaching of reading and writing while an undergraduate. He wrote Write of Way, an essay-writing text for college students, published by Pearson Education. Doug has taught the additional qualification courses in reading education offered by Brock University and the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto--both in the classroom and online. He recently served as an early literacy expert on the Ontario Ministry of Education’s Turnaround Schools Program, helping schools boost the reading achievement of students from junior kindergarten to grade 3. Doug is also an early childhood educator and is writing a book to help parents and early educators create a love of books and reading in their babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. In 2007, he developed and taught a course on literacy education for Ryerson University's School of Early Childhood Education. He currently directs the Brock University Faculty of Education Reading Clinic, serving clients from 4 years through adulthood, and continues to present literacy education workshops.
