Introduction | Dr Cupcake is completely unqualified in anything to do with food. She does however have a doctorate in seventeenth century Italian art history, with a sideline in ancient languages (just to make her completely unemployable). Dr Cupcake particularly likes sweet things and teeters on the edge of obsession when it comes to cupcake decoration. But some savoury tastes are also allowed ... particularly anything that can be constructed from fresh, locally sourced, free range and in-season ingredients. |
Interests | Food preparation from locally sourced ingredients; biographical, novelistic and culinary writing; history, linguistic psychology and art; obtaining superb coffee; guilting my partner into treating me with gifts that are either edible, crushable, fragrant or furry |
Favorite Movies | Well I do love a good foreign film, you know, the ones that are blockbusters in Europe, and then Hollywood gets hold of them and buggers up completely, but my concentration is often grabbed by shiny things so the subtitles can be a problem. |
Favorite Music | An eclectic mix of alternative melodic stuff that I rely on Triple JJJ (cool Australian independent broadcaster) to bring to my attention. |
Favorite Books | Paris Cutler, Planet Cake Cupcakes; Martha Stewart's Pies and Tarts; anything by James Thurber, Dante Alighieri, Derek Raymond and Malcolm Gladwell; Simone Beck and Julia Child, Mastering the Art of French Cooking; Jane Asher's Party Cakes. Nigella Lawson, How to be a Domestic Goddess |
That can't really be a fish you're standing on, can it?
