About me

Occupation children's writer, teacher
Introduction In real life, I don't have chartreuse feathers or scratch around a farm yard, but I do love worms- especially when they're nibbling the kitchen scraps in my compost bin. As a reader, writer, teacher and parent, I am always looking for new ways to go green. I enjoy reading eco-conscious books, exploring local farmer's markets, and working with neighborhood schools to initiate environmental programs. Whether I'm writing picture books, poetry, or articles for children's magazines, I find inspiration from nature and environmental topics.
Interests Planting seeds, Pecking about Farmer's Markets, Scratching down ideas for stories, Hatching plans to help the environment
Favorite Movies Any Chick Flicks...
Favorite Music Dixie Chicks, Green Day
Favorite Books The Little Red Hen, Chicks and Salsa, Cook-a-doodle-do, oh, and of course The Lorax (A great cautionary tale about taking care of the earth despite the lack of chicken characters.)
