Occupation Writer
Location Boulder, CO
Introduction I’m a reader, writer, dreamer, believer, and lover of peanut MnMs and all things children’s literature. My list of heroes including Richard Peck, Louis Sachar, Roald Dahl, Katherine Applegate, Ingrid Law, Rebecca Stead, Sherman Alexie, Laurie Halse Anderson and others—my list is always changing or growing, so don’t hold me to this! I admire nice shoes, but can usually be found in flip-flops, since I moonlight as a yoga teacher (best creativity booster= garudasana, eagle pose)—now back to footwear—though my heroes probably don't wear Louboutin (me either...those pretty red soles are spendy, plus I’m awkward in heels), I've always wanted to walk in their shoes, so I got busy living the dream. I wrote a manuscript, joined the SCBWI, joined two critiquing groups, edited, read a million blogs plus books on plot, character and structure, attended conferences, hosted schmoozes, subscribed to Writer's Digest (and won a contest!), wrote articles, and studied craft (an ongoing process). Five years later, I found my agent, Jen Rofé of the Andrea Brown Literary Agency and landed my first contract with Chronicle Books—see, that’s why I’m a believer—dreams do come true!
