Introduction I am a Bioinformatics PhD student in Todd Lowe's lab at UC Santa Cruz. As a Bioinformatics graduate student, I am interested in everything bioinformatics. In particular, I am interested in methods related to high-throughput sequencing, genome assembly, non-coding RNA prediction, and antisense interactions between RNA. My lab focuses on the development and refinement of computational methods to detect RNA genes in genomic sequence, particularly in archaeal species. The particular type of RNA that I study, C/D box RNAs, have conserved secondary structure. As a result, I am interested in RNA secondary structure prediction and alignment, including covariance models.
