Introduction	I'm a mom, wife, friend who loves writing, cooking, gardening--just creating. It's a daily struggle to do the things I love to do (including mothering) but I refuse to let my disease control my life. My disease is called facet arthropathy and it is a neurological disease that effects the facet joints in the spinal column. The sole function of the disease is to produce nerves that illicit pain. Most people who have this disease only have a few joints effected, but mine is diffuse, completely effecting my entire spine which means that I'm in pain pretty much every minute of the day. I control my pain with pain medication, stretching, swimming (I'm unable to do any other type of exercise) and by spending time with people who make me feel good, and I've had over 70 surgeries since 2002, where they cauterize the nerves that grow. I am grateful for these means to keep me functional and hope for a cure someday, but until then, I will accept my limitations and continue to fight this disease in order to keep my life as "normal" as possible.
