Introduction Doug Weldon, a Florida native, lives and works near the University of Florida, where he received his degree in fine arts. Early in his childhood, he discovered a talent for drawing, painting and writing stories, which was encouraged by his family. His art has a wide range of influences, from Joseph Cornell’s boxes to contemporary advertising. Working many years as a graphic artist, he has developed a style that makes heavy use of negative space. Similarly, his writing has been influenced by Poul Anderson and Hunter S. Thompson, always endeavoring to master brevity and what to leave out of his prose. As a painter, writer, computer nerd, surfer, and U.S. Marine, some have asked if schizophrenia is in play; answers are vague. When not working on the next Indravati novel, he might be found canoeing Florida rivers in search of ice age fossils.
