| Introduction | Hello everybody! A Sunday in May 2016 I suddenly realised I still have a Homepage that I have sadly neglected since its creation because I couldn't quite figure out how it works. I'm now trying to get back into it in order to post contributions regularly. For those of you who have no idea who I am - and that should be the vast majority - I'd like to mention that this webpage primarily features me in my capacity as a writer, cultural observer and traveler. I hope you will enjoy reading my posts. All comments are welcome. There will be no editing or moderation, first of all because I'm a stout defender, not only of free thought, but of free speech as well, even when I don't like or agree with what's being said. Voltaire, etc. Definitely! Although to state that I'm willing "to die for your right to express your opinion" would perhaps be an ever so slight exaggeration. On these pages you will find my musings and reflections on a variety of topics. I shall also publish excerpts from my published works and provide links to where they can be found and bought Online. | Favorite music | There has been so much marvelous music composed from Palestrina to Bartok that it would be difficult for me to mention just a few works. However, so-called classical music composed after 1945 is generally of limited interest to me. Among the music of our day and age I believe I often prefer expressions of popular culture and folklore over and against "serious" "modern" "artsy" music, which I mostly find tedious, at worst, and pretentious - at best. |
