| Introduction | I have four blogs on the Pulsed dashboard, but one is 'private' for experimenting with new features. Each public blog is devoted to a particular theme because I prefer not to mix a random assortment of topics. I also have self-hosted sites covering particular subject areas. In September 2011 the Blogger development team introduced a Lightbox feature and Dynamic Views to control the display of users' blogs. Both had initial problems which impaired the presentation of a wide range of blogs hosted at BlogSpot. I had been thinking of setting up a new Blogger blog, but after the Lightbox fiasco I decided against it. Instead, I'll expand the range of topics on the self-hosted sites. I haven't added a new post to my Wordpress.com blog since 2009, although I keep the older ones up-to-date. Around 2009, Wordpress.com started morphing from a straightforward blogging system to a social media platform. It looks like they're trying to emulate tumblr.com. Users have to opt-out of new features they don't want. |
