Introduction Why do I take photographs? Not an unusual question to be asked. It is not what I did most of my life - at least not with the intensity that I now devote to it. For me there is a relatively easy answer. I have a passion for the quest and exploring - the journey not the destination - more than possession. Or as Henry Miller wrote "Our destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things." Photography is all about discovery and not at all about possession. The beauty that you see in a sunrise is gone - and never to be exactly repeated - in a matter of minutes, and this is true of much of what I photograph. You never own those moments and have captured only an inadequate representation of something far grander and more complex than what is recorded on a memory card. The far more difficult question for me to answer is "What do I photograph?". I am fascinated by Edges. Edges of the day, edges of the seasons, edges of land and emotional edges. Complexity intrigues me, or to be more exact how you can visually discover and reveal order in chaos. If you want to see more of my photographs go to: http://davidkay.zenfolio.com/
