Introduction | Hi-my name is Melissa, and i am Autistic. I have never been able to work, or do much to better myself in life, not because of my Autism, but because of the way the world still sees us, and the way services are still geared and administered. In addition, because of where i live, there aren't that many services for Autistic adults at all. Instead, i have spent the past 30-plus years of my life since high school, living on very meager government entitlement programs. I have always had big dreams for my life---but i have always fallen through the cracks, and have never been able to get the help i have needed so that i can be able to live a full, normal life. I am a very caring people person, and have a very kind, compassionate heart. But i have alot of very real and deep-seated fears, phobias, obsessions, and compulsions....which makes life a very real challenge. It is my fervent hope that this blog will be read by someone who will take my case on, and finally i can have relief, not from my Autism, because i am proud to be my Autistic self, but from the prison i have had to be in for most of my life, because of the way society still sadly views those of us who are Autistic. |

Why don't you ever wear a scarf? It doesn't need to be cold outside for your neck to feel naked.
Because i feel claustrophobic with anything up around my neck.
