Introduction I know no boundaries when it comes to learning about wine. In fact, I gravitate toward lesser-known varietals and regions. (I'll be a very happy camper when Swiss Dole and Fendant become easily accessible here in the States.) I'm an impassioned wine geek who gets a genuine thrill introducing fellow wine fans to these wines and watching their delighted expressions the moment they take their first sip of whatever I'm pouring. It's true: The more wines a person tries, the greater the opportunities for enjoying what Jancis Robinson calls "the world's most delicious drink." Cheers!
Interests Wine and wine research, distance running, watching hockey and baseball, travel, fine dining, vintage movies, reading, and pets.
Favorite Movies Too many to list at one sitting, but I tend to steer toward vintage dramas and comedies shown on TCM: "Now, Voyager, " "Casablanca, " "Duck Soup, " "Animal Crackers, " "Goodbye, Mr. Chips, " "Wings, " "All Quiet on the Western Front, " "Stalag 17, " "The Quiet Man, " "My Fair Lady, " "Sabrina, " "The Misfits, " and "Lawrence of Arabia." (Since I'm a wine geek, there's no way I can't include "Sideways" among my pantheon of favorites.)
Favorite Music At this moment, I'm hugely into big band and swing of the '30s and '40s. You want to hear pure drive and mojo? Listen to "Sing, Sing, Sing."
Favorite Books Any of The Oxford Companions to Wine (Jancis Robinson), Hip Tastes (Courtney Cochran), annual Zagat dining guides, Mean Girls Grown Up (Cheryl Dellasega), Tuesdays With Morrie (Mitch Albom), The Scarlet Letter, Washington Square, James Herriot's Cat Stories, and most of Anne Tyler's novels.

How do you feel about trying a wine varietal you've never sampled before?
