Introduction A 175cm long specimen weighing 55kgs, idiotic looking, hair colour black, old-fashioned hair style and tiny brown coloured eyes distinguish him in the field. Found in almost every biotope. Shows a preference for the habitats existing in Kanha, Tadoba and Penchthough his true home is in one corner of Nagpur. An extremely rare species, perhaps only one remaining in the entire world. IUCN Status- Critically Endangered, but completely unprotected. Not included in any of the schedules of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. Habits- Mainly diurnal. May become nocturnal if rate of human interference is low in the night. Doesn’t like to sleep much(except in the classroom!) and is an active species. Largely anti-social and solitary. Not much known about his behaviour as he is a shy(literally) specimen.
