Introduction | I was born curious and found that surrounding myself with books and information made me happy and smarter! I had a long career in education, libraries and technology. Now retired from the work-a-day world, I stay connected to my love of books as a book-seller, Metronet board member and ALA RMRT Past President and of course book reader, listener and aspiring author. |
Interests | Gardening, trivia, reading and books, sewing and fiber crafts, photography, travel, Scrabble and other word games, animals and nature |
Favorite Movies | I love some of the classics: Gone with the Wind, Singin' in the Rain, but find fantasy and science fiction movies filled with mind-boggling special effects to be very compelling. I simply love movies and enjoy seeing them on the big screen. |
Favorite Music | This is dangerous territory...people are so judgemental of musical tastes and I tend to like lots of music, even Michael Bolton and Barry Manilow, as well as James Galway's flute music, Raffi's children's songs and selected Streisand and Dylan songs. I like Queen and The Eagles, Simon and Garfunkel, Rod Stewart and Annie Lennox. I listen to Jason Mraz, John Legend, Meghan Trainor. There are always new artists and new songs with something to say and rhythms to move you; to dance, to sing, to sigh and to cry. My Sirius stations of choice is The Blend or Coffeehouse, or the 70's station. |
Favorite Books | Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury, Deep Time by David Darling, Stephen King's Dark Tower series, Cat's Eye by Margaret Atwood, A Town Like Alice by Nevil Shute, Then there were none, by Agatha Christie, Einstein's Dream, by Lightman, The Tipping Point and Blink, both by Gladwell |
If mud is dirt plus water, what is clay?
In the right hands, it is both Beauty and Practicality. Thank goodness for all those who are willing to play in the dirt! I'm a gardener, so my preference is dirt plus water, plus sunshine!
