IntroductionGreat great grand daughter of first tea planter, entrepreneur, prime minister of the Ahom kingdom and freedom fighter of Assam Maniram Dewan. Sanjukta Barooah is a well know Sattriya Nritya dancer established in Delhi. She had started training in the form since 1999. A year afterwards! It was recognised as a classical dance form of India. She trained at Guru Indira P. P. Bora's school Kalabhumi in Assam. She continued learning at Kalabhumi until 2008. She trained from 2009 till 2013 from bhakat (monk) of Uttar Kamalabari sattra Bhabananda Barbayan. Now, furthering her training at Guru Jatin Goswami's school. Her purpose is to stay rooted to her great Indian tradition. Sattriya dance art-form is more than 550 years old living tradition of Assam. Therefore, her dance art-form is not easy and so she is a full time dance professional. Her Ranga Pravesha (Sattriya Dance Graduation Ceremony) was held on 27th March 2011 at India International Centre, New Delhi. This was the first Sattriya Ranga Pravesha that the capital had witnessed.
