| Introduction | I am a proponent of "The Ancestral Way", the way of approaching spirituality and family life in our modern day under inspiration and guidance from what we know of the historical cultures of Iron Age Gaul, Britain, and Ireland- cultures that once included peoples to whom I am related ancestrally. The polytheism (along with its implied spiritual ecology) and kinship-focused morality of these ancient cultures has, I think, much to offer us today in the way of guidance, just as we have a duty to offer our awareness, recognition, and reverence to the Ancestors who live in us. When we open ourselves with dignity and sincerity, seeking to discover "what's really out there" in the unseen world, we seek Ancestral guidance to help us; when we seek to know how to relate to others justly, we seek it again. We have sacred myth and history, as well as the ancestral powers in our own souls to help us along the way to discovering our place in the world and our sacred purpose for living. |
