IntroductionI was born and raised in Akron, attended Akron Public Schools and hold a BA in Communications from the University of Akron. In 1991, I was elected to the Ward 1 Akron City Council Seat and represented its residents until 1998. During my 6+ years on City Council, I secured over $20 Million in capital improvements for the people of Ward 1, including the life saving Merriman Valley Fire Station #11, Aqueduct and Big Falls Community Development Districts, and playground improvements at Patterson, Hereford and Karona parks. I also worked with the City, EPA and Ohio Edison to turn a former fly ash dump into 6 new baseball fields at Patton Field, off of Route 8. In 2001 we moved into the house in which my wife Desiree grew up in on Kenilworth Drive in Ward 8. We’ve raised our family here and after an 11 year hiatus I am prepared to continue the solid leadership that the 8th Ward has seen in City Hall. For over two months I have been walking the ward, talking with residents to hear their thoughts, ideas and concerns. I am ready to use my six years of experience on Akron City Council to solve Ward 8 residents’ problems and help keep our neighborhoods safe.
