| Introduction | I am fascinated by the processes that enable us to exist. Our nervous system plays a pivotal role in this. Since I have been diagnosed with MS, I don’t take it so much for granted anymore how I function on a daily basis. I appreciate every day how precious and fragile but at the same time how incredibly smart the brain is. The complexity and vulnerability plus the damage that come with diseases such as MS are at the core of my work. I am mesmerised by the beauty of the structures and textures of the brain in microscopic detail and want to continue exploring ways to reflect these structures in my work. Therefore, I am constantly examining the behaviour of various materials that would help me translate my inspirations into a physical, haptic experience and make use of the health benefits, tactile stimulation can hold for us. |
