| Introduction | Rarely, do I talk about myself because the truth is the truth, no matter who the author is and this blog will underscore that fact. I was born in the early 60’s, in Birmingham, England. But, I wouldn’t let the British taste fool ya. My father thought his responsibility ended after ejaculation; and as a consequence, I have never laid eyes on him. My late mom, who is a full-blooded Jamaican, packed the family up and headed to New York. Most of my life was rooted in the Bronx so consequently, all of my editorials will have a Hip Hop undertone (its worse if you ride in a whip with me). In 1990, I moved from NYC to Atlanta, Ga. to work for Turner Broadcasting. Living in Atlanta has taught me a few things and the most memorable is…, there is a HUGE difference between a black city and a red state. My writing influences are many: James Baldwin, Peter Vecsey (NY Post), Kenji Jasper, Aaron Magruder (Boondocks), Cornel West and Jordan Peele. I tend to only give advice when asked, but this one is on the house: "Never let your gifts take you to a place where your character can't keep you." Oh, and never eat yellow snow. |
