Introduction I was an art student, then a theologian, and now I want to be an advertiser. I love art; doing it, thinking about it, reading about it, talking about it, and so on. So because there never is a box for 'Favourite Artists', I will put them in here: Sir Peter Blake, Ed Ruscha, Roy Lichtenstein, Mel Ramos, Wayne Thiebaud, Peter Doig, Daniel Richter, Yoshitomo Nara, Dexter Dalwood, Mark Rothko, Stephen Conroy, Peter Howson, Ferdinand Hodler, and the usual suspects (Van Gogh, Picasso, Cezanne, Seurat, etcetera). To sum me up: below are my 3 favourite and most personally relevant quotations: 'Think from outside the box, collapse the box and take a f%*$ing sharp knife to it.' (Banksy) 'Great minds like a think.' (John Micklethwait) Something a little deeper (but too long so I will just offer you the bibliographical details): 'The Brothers Karamazov' by Fyodor Dostoyevsky (translated by David Mcduff; Penguin Classics), page 320. But I can't resist the opportunity to paraphrase (ever) and so what Fyodor is trying to say is: If the suffering of a newborn child is my means to eternal life then I hand back my ticket to the resurrection. END.
