Training of trainers (TOT) programme on development oriented psychosocial care

Introduction	BasicNeeds International Training Programme (ITP) offers the TOT programme on development oriented psychosocial care for community development organisations. The TOT programme has two components. First part runs as a ten-day residential course. BasicNeeds has planned to have three programmes in this nature during 2006 and the first programme has already been completed in early February 2006. The second part of TOT begins after the residential programme and it runs for twelve months as a follow up and upgrading programme. A panel of experienced, professional and well organised international tutors conduct this programme with more practical sessions through participatory approach to ensure the achieving of programme objectives. BasicNeeds is a UK-based international NGO with expertise in designing community-led development interventions, mainly in the area of social integration of people experiencing mental health problems in highly disadvantaged communities in Africa and South Asia. Presently it operates in Ghana, India, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Uganda with more than 22,000 mentally ill persons.
