Introduction I'm a thirty something new mom working to bring my family out of debt and into a more simplistic and self sufficient lifestyle. I enjoy learning about my family's history, spending time outdoors, reading and learning about practically everything under the sun, and dream to one day have a small farm and a few small home businesses too.
Interests My family, hiking, reading (anything from science fiction and horror to how-to books on self sufficiency and solar power, etc), hand embroidery, movies, a little gaming (pen and paper and console), genealogy, and a thousand other tiny things I love but don't always have the time for.
Favorite Movies All the Harry Potter films. Anything Stephen King but especially the Stand. The 10th Kingdom... and most of the NBC made for TV movies from the late 90's-early 2000's. Food Inc, great documentary. A Family Undertaking, another great documentary on family's choosing to bury their own dead... very touching for me and so personal. I watch lots of horror, sci-fi and comedy, plenty of documentaries of late, and every great now and then I'll sit through a romance, but there had better be some action or something interesting outside of the romance. :)
Favorite Music Wow... oh... I love instrumentals for almost any instrument, especially things with a traditional ethnic sound like Native American flute and drums, Indian, Arabic or African music. I love my hair metal, Metallica and Poison and GNR, etc. Enjoy my heavier darker metal, Cradle of Filth and Angtoria. Really there's a lot out there that I really like, a few I despise, but that's a pretty small number. Though I will warn you, don't just ask me if I like a band, because I suck at knowing song titles, let alone what band they're from. Hum me a few bars, or sing me the lyrics, then we'll see if I know what you're talking about. :)
Favorite Books Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler (awesome female African American author who really needs more readership), The Stand by Stephen King, Everything I Want to Do is Illegal by Joel Salatin, the entire Dune series by Frank Herbert (I've not gotten into the Brian Herbert additions though), the House of Night series by PC & Kristen Cast, The Host by Stephanie Meyer (so much better than Twilight but with so little hype, and really there's a ton more. I love to read (ask my poor Honey Justin who's always watching me lug huge stacks of books home from the library, lol), and I enjoy a fairly wide range of authors and genres... again, not much for the standard romance though. For someone who has such a romantic notion of where I'd like to be in life, I don't take well to the genre. :)

If you could peer far enough into the night sky, you'd see a star in any direction you looked. When would you sleep?

After a good's work or hiking, you know, when I got tired. I've got a small child at home... I sleep when she and work let me already, no need for the stars to dictate it.
