IntroductionI am a mother to 2 boys, a wife, a sister, a daughter, an auntie, and a friend. I am a teacher, with experience in Learning Assistance and Learning Disabilities, and French Immersion. This year I am teaching grade one in French Immersion. I also have a somewhat under-utilized degree in International Relations. I frequently teach 3 year olds and their parents early literacy within the framework of the national Parent-Child Mother Goose program. This has been more delightful than I could have imagined. I have also enjoyed teaching French to adults and I regularly tutor children in English and French. A few years ago, I started beading as a kind of "brain-break" and I now have a small business making one-of-a-kind jewelery, which is where "just a little something" comes from (I was always giving friends "just a little something" i had made). And finally, I am passionate about Life Art: Photography + Words = Scrapbooking for the new millenium. I taught scrapbooking classes as a Creative Memories consultant and I recently taught an altered clipboard class for a local scrapbooking store. I enjoy writing, so a blog seemed a pretty obvious next step. Welcome!

Favorite moviesMy Fair Lady,Local Hero, Waking Ned Devine, When Harry Met Sally, Cars, Amelie, Chocolat, Indiana Jones, and lots more - just have to think of them....
Favorite musicJazz: Diana Krall, Madeleine Peyroux, Stan Getz, Brazilian jazz like Joao Gilberto, and any jazz guitar. Van Morrison is my comfort music, like comfort food. He is ice cream for my soul. Loved the Beatles and the BeeGees and Abba, and am apparently stuck in the first 2letters of the alphabet... Love all that stuff we listened to in the 80s. I have discovered John Mayer - great lyricist and superb blues guitarist.
Favorite booksI am a member of 2 Book Clubs (a little too ambitious?). Books I have loved: The Diving Bell and the Butterfly by Jean Dominique Bauby, My Life in France by Julia Child, The History of Love by Nicole Krauss, The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy, Life of Pi by Yann Martel, The White Bone by Barbara Gowdy, Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel, The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje, Fugitive Pieces by Anne Michaels, Monkey Beach by Eden Robinson, Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson, The Kiterunner by Khaled Hosseini

Why does the color blue mean raspberry-flavored?

because raspberries taste like summer and lying on the grass with your shoes off, trying to see past the hot BLUE sky out into the universe
