IntroductionWell...I'm glad you asked...I live in Wellington (New Zealand) where I currently work as a researcher (more or less). In 1999, as a result of Salmonella poisoning, I became afflicted with Reactive Arthritis. Some time around the same time (as a result of a Noam Chomsky book), I also contracted another, more troubling, affliction. This affliction was recently (and very helpfully) finally diagnosed (by a right-wing economist from Victoria University) as "latent hostility to capitalism". As far as I can tell these two conditions are in no way related to each other. In setting up this blog I fully realise that, 10 years from now, blogs will be viewed as "just another embarrassing phenomenon from the decade previous", and that no-one will ever admit to having used one. This is much like the way we now look back on flannel shirts (late 1990s) and leg-warmers (the 1980s). But seeing as I never owned leg warmers and my mother wouldn't let me wear flannel I thought I ought to at least have a blog...
