| Introduction | As a resident of Illinois for the last ten years, I am really nothing more than a concerned citizen. The 2006 race for governor highlighted the fact that this state is woefully short of leadership and good ideas. No one talks about making Illinois great, just how to "fix" current problems. What is possible if we shoot for having the best educational system in the US? Or the lowest tax rates? Or a friendly business environment that not only encourages growth but innovation as well? These are the types of questions that will be probed here on this site, with an examination of what is holding Illinois back from being great and what some potential policies are that would break down these barriers.
