| Introduction | Thank you for visiting my blog. These are notes that I have taken during the most unexpectedly transformative experience of my life. I have never been a good journal keeper, but I feel that if I do not take the risk of recording this time, I will miss the opportunity to understand why I have attracted it into my life. Each blog title is an excerpt from the Roman Catholic Funeral mass and is inspired by the beautiful Spirits celebrated there. A native Bostonian, I attended the Eastman School of Music after which I spent many years as a New York City based Opera Singer. In 2007 I moved back to MA to be near my family. While in Boston, I tripped into the world of Church singing. Ironically, it turned out to be the catalyst for a major personal and spiritual journey. Over those five years, I sang 552 funerals. There I learned how our gifts are meant to serve the greater good. My mission here is to share my story about a detour off the road of attachment and expectation to a more meaningful daily life. I hope that you all can see yourselves here. Currently, I live in New York City and continue to Sing, teach and write my memoir about my time as The Funeral Singer. |
