Introduction	Welcome to Educated Escape, the adventuring blog written by Doc (Jack) and Prof (Stephen). First of all, why Educated Escape? We are both graduating from South Dakota State University (SDSU) with a B.S. Degree and are ready for an escape. Our escape will be to the Appalachian Trail, a ~2200 mile hiking trail stretching from Georgia to Maine (http://www.appalachiantrail.org/home/explore-the-trail). On the Appalachian Trail (AT) it is tradition for hikers to come up with a trail name. Usually hikers create their own name. For our hike, we chose Doc and Prof. Doc will be going to medical school at VCOM Virginia campus and Prof will be getting a masters degree in Education from SDSU. Before going back to the classroom, we decided to get lost in the woods for a month. We will be completing a section hike on the Appalachian Trail from Pearisburg, VA to Harpers Ferry, WV, which is a distance of about 400 miles. We are excited to have you following along with our preparation and adventure (even if it is just our parents right now, thanks mom). Please share our blog and ask us questions about anything we are doing.
