Introduction	__________________________________ Visit: "JimKeayes.com" _________________________________ Jim Keayes began his painting career in Australia in his early twenties when he became involved in the community of musicians, actors and artists in Sydney, Australia. He showed his paintings and photographs and sold some of his work. As he says: “I became stuck in the mold of realism and couldn’t break out; my work became tight and uninspired and I resorted to copying from photographs and other paintings. I had become a copyist, not a creative artist. I had lost my excitement for something I truly love. I have recently embraced the abstract genre and my work is now much freer. I believe painting is all about composition and color and less about detail. I truly love a vibrant color palette!” Jim has nine years of formal education as an engineering draughtsman but is basically self-taught as a painter; mainly from books and video and coaching from other artists.
