Introduction | Janis Thomas Cramer is an true "Okie from Muskogee." She taught senior English and creative writing under her former name of Mrs. Lowrance at Muskogee High School for 18 years, 1968-1986 and at Mustang High School from 1986-1998, also advising Student Council at both schools. She served on the executive board of the Oklahoma Council of Teachers of English for five years and has been a teacher consultant for the Oklahoma Writing Project since 1987. She was awarded the Medal of Excellence in Secondary Education from the Foundation for Excellence in 1994 and was one of the top 12 candidates for 1995 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year. In 1998 she became the Co-Director of the Oklahoma Writing Project until she retired in 2009. In 2013, she self-published her first book, "My Finest," a portfolio of her best writings, available on Amazon.com. |
