| Introduction | "At The Helm" is about sharing my sailing experiences and innovations I have tried over many years. I have been around boats since shortly after learning to walk and probably before that. My first taste of sailing came around age five when my dad introduced me to a sailing dink. The first few days, dad showed me the basics near the shoreline. By the end of the week I was solo sailing across a northern Michigan lake with my dad not far behind in runabout. I was hooked on sailing for life. Sailing is more than "point and shoot" as you would with a powerboat. Sailing requires far more ability and knowledge. It's a challenge far beyond pulling a rope or turning a key as with a powerboat. I have owned many different classes from dinks, catamarans and settling on the larger trailerable mono-hulls. Why a trailerable? Your sailing grounds are from lakes to the oceans and the capability of going solo or with family, or friends is possible. I believe if you can sail, you are ready for the unexpected. With that experience, there is very little in life that will stand in your way. |
