| Introduction | Marilyn Heidrick was introduced to Ba Gua Zhang by Marcus Brinkman in 1990. When Marcus relocated to Denver in 1993 she began studying Ba Gua in depth. Marcus' teaching style emphasized slowly building the body structure and combining the internal aspects of movement with martial applications. Marilyn became Marcus' senior student. In 1994, Marcus introduced his teacher, Master Luo De Xiu to Marilyn and other students. She has been participating in yearly intensives with Luo in Denver and around the country, and has traveled to Taipei numerous times to study with Luo Laoshi. Her curriculum includes Yang Tai Ji, Yizong Bagua, Chen Pan Ling Tai Ji and Hebei Xing Yi. Marilyn has maintained a private acupuncture and herbal medicine practice since 1995. As a teacher, Marilyn emphasizes blending mindful movement to enhance the power and control of one's body. Training the martial aspect is important but emphasis remains upon improving and maintaining health, strength, and flexibility to balance the whole being. Marilyn’s focus and intention is to honor and teach in the tradition of her teachers and to preserve the essence of their lineage. |
