It's what you do for others." ~ Danny Thomas *********************** My year without alcohol is to create awareness & raise money for Odyssey House (an alcohol and drug rehibilitation centre). There is so much awareness about the effects of smoking, but we are only just starting to recognize the harmful effects alcohol can have on our health, our relationships & our lives. Society associates drinking with having a good time, but alcohol is a depressant & sometimes violence & abuse is the result of that good time. I volunteer at a hospital in the Emergency department & I’ve noticed a common theme: A large percentage of the illnesses & injuries are alcohol or drug related and such incidents have also affected those close to me. I've set up a charity page to help Odyssey House give those affected by alcohol & drug abuse a fresh start in life & this blog to share positive insights during my year without alcohol. |
