| Introduction | I am a senior at Grand Valley State University majoring in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Sustainable Community Development and a minor in Environmental Studies. After a summer working at Zion National Park two years ago, I decided to combine my passion for the outdoors and for people by becoming a youth organizer at GVSU and throughout Michigan. I have coordinated students to attend both Power Shift conferences, worked with the Michigan Student Sustainability Coalition to plan trainings, conferences and state lobby days and held various leadership positions in the Student Environmental Coalition on campus working to engage students and faculty in sustainability related projects. I am also co-founder of the GVSU Community Garden, a 1-acre parcel of land where students, faculty, staff and community members can come together to learn about the importance of consuming local and organic foods while enhancing their green thumbs. This past July I was selected by the Will Steger Foundation to be a Midwest youth delegate to the international climate negotiations in Copenhagen, Denmark and I am excited to jump right in and get started! |
