Introduction	I am a gently emerging,lesbian artist with disabilities, living with my partner and 2 dogs in upstate NY. I do not have a formal art education. Rather, I started painting following a serious auto accident which left me paralyzed from the neck down. As I was recovering, an occupational therapist in the rehab hospital strapped a brush to my forearm (I couldn't even grasp it) and said "paint!" My life has been surrounded by art ever since. Although I have made a remarkable recovery, I still face numerous physical challenges as a result of my spinal cord injury. In order to prevent further pain and injury, I paint with a kitchen timer, stopping every 15-20 minutes to get up, stretch, ice or lay down. Therefore, I am not a prolific painter. But I thoroughly appreciate every gift I have and each completed piece of art is a small victory!
