| Introduction | I am a co-founder of The Bloom Group, a consulting and marketing firm that specializes in helping professional services firms power up marketing and service innovation through the emerging discipline of thought leadership. I cut my teeth on thought leadership marketing in 1987 after joining the management consulting firm Index Group Inc. Index and Michael Hammer set the consulting world on fire with "business reengineering." I played a leading role in the marketing function that helped make reengineering a household word (including a Dilbert topic!). Index Group was where I first saw how thought leadership content was created, turned into a consulting service and marketed. I stayed at Index for 10 years, until the firm imploded. (Creating a sustainable professional service from a "thought-leading" concept was not so easy for Index.) |
