| Introduction | This is my first year teaching at Jackman Avenue Public School, and my twenty-eighth year working for the Toronto District School Board (my fourteenth year teaching), I am a graduate from the York University – Regent Park Program. I have been working with children for almost 30 years in various capacities: Child Care Worker, Summer Camp Director, Educational & Special Needs Assistant and now, teacher! I have also worked in various communities throughout the city: Jane & Finch, St. Jamestown, The Beach, Regent Park, Cabbagetown, St. Lawrence, Guildwood, Davisville Village and Malvern. It is these varied experiences that have shaped my appreciation for fostering a learning environment that consists of culturally responsive teaching that promotes community, social justice & equity. I have a strong passion for reading, as well as engaging in my favourite hobby of genealogy. I love sharing my interest with my beautiful 9 year old daughter, Sadie! I am looking forward to working collaboratively with all of the students, their families and everyone in the Jackman community!
