About me

Location Providence, Rhode Island, United States
Introduction I had to choose a somewhat arbitrary year as the starting point for my revolutionary activities because I found I could not remember a time when teaching and learning were not a part of our family's dinner time conversation. I decided, then, to begin with the year my mother taught me to knit (pink acrylic yarn on blue metal needles) which was, incidentally, also the year I began kindergarten in Lyndonville, Vermont. Perhaps my first act as an educator was bringing my knitting in for show and tell. Thirty years later, I am still knitting and still educating, for the past ten years in Providence, Rhode Island. The biggest compliment anyone has every given me about my teaching was my teaching assistant who once said to me: "every day in your class brings me one step closer to the revolution."
