| Favorite movies | I'm not into typical, Hollywood feature films as I have always had trouble developing/maintaning interest and suspending disbelief for two plus hours. Unless I am utterly intrigued by a movie beforehand, there's a good chance I'll be watching with half-closed eyelids. (Dark quiet theaters, do make for prime meditative spaces, however.) Anything blaxploitation (e.g. Superfly, The Mack, Coffee, The Spook Who Sat by the Door, Dolemite, etc.) Pulp Fiction (with its subtle nod to many a blaxploitation classic, is it any wonder?) Documentaries: Tyson, The Weathermen, Cocaine Cowboys I&2, Stand-up by, Eddie Griffin, George Carlin (RIP), Katt Williams, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock |
| Favorite music | 80% hip-hop, 20% miscelleanous (e.g. Bossa Nova/World Music- The Gilbertos, most notably Joao, Astrud, Bebel, etc., Djavan, Garbriella Anders, Hyldon, Celia Cruz, Caetano Veloso, Easy Listening, Sade, Sinatra, Metal/Rock - Metallica's first five albums, Nirvana, Soul & Old School R&B, Marvin Gaye, Luther, Harold Melvin, Teddy Pendergrass, Bobby Womack, The Stylistics, Jazz -Coltrane, Miles Davis, Opera |
| Favorite books | Most regrettably, formal schooling may have very well killed a good part of my extracurricular intellectual ambition. Word around the campfire is that I used to have a voracious literary appetite as a wee tot, but my dusty, damn-near empty bookshelf really makes me wonder. |
